Try to answer the questions using your knowledge of bees and beekeeping. All the information required to answer the questions can be found in the 'Beekeeping In Scotland' downloads. Use the links on the right to download these files. You will also find a summary page of the answers for all the quizzes on the right as well.

Questions

  • 1 Honeybees are insects. In your answer, say how many legs they have, and give the name of another insect. (To be correct, you must answer both parts of the question.)
  • 2 Tell us the name of one of the groups of Scottish islands in which bees are kept.
  • 3 Beeswax is made by the bees to build their combs. Beekeepers collect this wax - tell us one of the things for which it is used.
  • 4 Tell us how many Kilos of honey a colony of bees will need to last them through a Scottish winter.
  • 5 There are four basic stages in the life cycle of a bee. In your answer, give the names of those four stages. To be correct, you must give the names of all four stages.
  • 6 A beekeeper needs a lot of equipment to help look after the bees. In your answer, tell us the names of three essential pieces of beekeeping equipment, other than the beehive. (For a correct answer, you must give three names.)
