You will find contact details for the markets convener on the Executive page in the 'About' section of the main menu.
The Markets Convener attended this workshop on behalf of the SBA. You can read his report from the quick links section above.
The Scottish Beekeepers ' Association strongly advises members to follow the advice of the Food Standards Agency, that honey should be clearly labelled stating that it should not be given to infants under one year of age. Full details are in Technical Data Sheet number 16, which is available through the Quick Links area on this page.
The FSA has also issued advice, to which there is also a link under the Quick Links above.
Some beekeepers will be aware that a Code of Practice for small scale beekeepers was developed and published some years ago by the SBA. For the benefit of any beekeeper still in possession of a copy, you should be aware that the code is out of date, as new legislation came in on the 1st Jan 2006 which repealed the 1995 Regulations under which the code was produced. There is no current plan for a new edition of the Code being published.
However the present Markets Convener does still have copies of all the relevant materials and articles that can be used by members with specific problems, and is happy to offer appropriate guidance to members on this.
